The game is set in Yamato, a dark medieval version of Japan. It is ruled by a ruthless emperor, Zanshin, who turned himself into a powerful dark warlord. He commands an incalculable army of darkness and is determined to conquer the whole of Yamato, even if it means slaughtering innocents. As one of the four clans (Mori, Oda, Tokugawa, and Toyotomi) controlling the seven samurai, the player must stop the dark warlord at all costs.

Unlike in Age of Wonders, where the player has the option of removing their leader from the map, players in Age of Wonders 2 take the role of an immortal spell-casting Wizard, who cannot be upgraded, but in certain circumstances can survive being killed.

Magic system

In Age of Wonders, magic is used via the spell casting abilities of leaders and heroes, and global spells can be cast some distance away from the hero; use of spells in combat is restricted to battles where a hero with spell casting is present.

Magic use in Age of Wonders 2 uses a "domain" system; spells can only be cast within the domain of the casting wizard, or the domain of an allied wizard. Magic domains can overlap with each other, and in the simple case, are centred on the Wizard. When a Wizard is present in a Wizard's Tower, the radius of the domain increases significantly, and in addition is radiated by other Wizard's Towers, Magic Relays and Heroes under the control of the player. Global spells can only be cast by the Wizard, via a spell book located in the main user interface; spells can be cast in combat by either Heroes involved in the battle, or (provided the battle takes place inside their domain) the Wizard who controls any party which entered the battle.

Combat and heroes

In contrast to Age of Wonders, the maps for tactical battles are now much smaller. This led to faster combat action and less tedious maneuvering of the units. Also in contrast to its predecessor, when gaining new levels Heroes can no longer choose new skills from a very long list of all available skills; instead, the player is forced to choose one of three offered skills, depending on the Hero's class.

UEFA Euro 2008 is the official video game of the UEFA Euro 2008 tournament. The PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, PC, and Xbox 360 versions were all developed by EA Sports. The European and North American versions were released on April 18, 2008 and May 20, 2008 respectively.[1] PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 demos have been released. Commentary is from ITV Sports' Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend.

Via the use of simulations, the game predicted that the final will be played between Italy and Portugal and that Portugal will go on to win Euro 2008 by 2-1 margin[2]. It was also predicted that Cristiano Ronaldo will not only score in the final but also be the Golden Boot winner by scoring 5 goals in the tournament.

American McGee is best known for his work on shooters like Quake III, but he split off from id Software recently and his first effort is Alice, a twisted romp through his own version of Lewis Carroll's Wonderland. The trick is that Alice, now older, is the lone survivor of a house fire that kills her family. She's stuck in an asylum and must regain her own sanity by returning to the madcap Wonderland she visited as a child. She's a darker person now, and, perhaps consequently, Wonderland is correspondingly dark.

Iron Man is a 2008 video game based on the 2008 film of the same name. It was released on May 2, 2008 to coincide with the release of the film in cinemas. The game features the voices of Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard and Shaun Toub[2], is developed by Sega, and was released on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, Wii, Xbox 360, PC and Mobile Platforms.

The enemies are A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics), the Maggia (a high-tech Mafia analogue), and the Army of the Ten Rings. The super villains in the game are Iron Monger, Melter, Whiplash, Raza, and Titanium Man.[3]

Delta Force: Land Warrior is a tactical first-person shooter (FPS) video game. It is the third game in the Delta Force series produced by Novalogic, and is the sequel to Delta Force 2 (DF2). DFLW was sold as stand-alone game and also as part of the "Delta Force Trilogy," a 3-disc set which included Delta Force 1 (DF1) and DF2.

Delta Force: Land Warrior is infrequently referred to as Delta Force 3 or DF3. DFLW, LW, or "Land Warrior" are commonly used by players to denote the game. DFLW was a major departure from previous versions in the Delta Force series by including realistic weapon recoil and 5 different player-selectable characters. Each DFLW character has unique combinations of strengths and weaknesses.

Some of these unique character traits are running speed, reloading time, and weapon accuracy. Players can also select various combinations of characters and weapons, a unique freedom newer FPS games do not offer. For example, a player can select the medic character and use a sniper rifle or a machine gun. The sniper can use a grenade launcher. The grenadier can use an underwater assault rifle (UAR). There are no character or weapon restrictions in DFLW, any selectable character can use any selectable weapon.

DFLW gives players the option of single-player games or multiplayer games online. Single-player games utilize enemy soldiers commonly referred to as "bots" to provide competition and are controlled by the game's artificial intelligence or AI. Some bots are friendly and are part of a player's team but are considerably less in number and have generally poor fighting ability.

The multiplayer game option allows players to compete against human opponents. This option requires players to have an internet connection which is necessary to connect to DFLW game servers. DFLW was originally designed to be played online utilizing dialup internet connections. DFLW game servers can be hosted by individual players, or players can log onto official Novalogic servers which require a Novalogic account. Novalogic game servers and player accounts are free.

Additionally, Novalogic game servers keep a wide range of player statistical information in a database which all players can access and see. Novalogic game servers are often referred to as "stat" servers. In the early 2000s during DFLW's height of popularity, Novalogic offered up to 50 slot player servers. As of September, 2007, Novalogic continues to host DFLW games, although the number of servers and player slots has been reduced over the years.

Stronghold Legends is a castle-based real-time strategy game by Firefly Studios. It follows in the series of Stronghold and Stronghold 2.

Unlike the previous Stronghold titles, Legends gives the player a choice of different starting rulers all with different troop types (including King Arthur and his knights of the round table, Count Vlad Dracul , and Siegfried of Germany). Other new features include the ability to play multi-player versus CPU controlled opponents. Also, for the first time, you can choose between different game play modes for online play, including death-match, king of the hill, economic war, and capture the flag. Stronghold Legends brings a new mythical element into the game.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a critically acclaimed third-person stealth-based video game developed and published by Ubisoft. Chaos Theory is the third game in the Splinter Cell series endorsed by writer Tom Clancy. The game follows the covert activities of Sam Fisher, an agent working for a black-ops branch of the NSA called "Third Echelon." Though originally announced for release in Fall of 2004, the actual release date was March of 2005 for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube and PC. Handheld versions for the Nintendo DS and Nokia N-Gage have also been released. A version for the Game Boy Advance was planned, but cancelled. Actor Michael Ironside still plays Sam, while Don Jordan returns from the original game to voice Lambert, having been replaced by Dennis Haysbert in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. The game went gold on March 22, 2005 for all platforms. The Official Xbox Magazine rated Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Xbox "Game of the Year" (2005) for its outstanding gameplay and lifelike graphics. Because this game depicts a war between North and South Korea, it was banned in South Korea, along with many other games, until late 2006.

Rise of Legends retains most of the features from Rise of Nations, like city building, borders, attrition, assimilations, non-depletable resources and the CTW, Conquer The World, Campaigns. However, Rise of Legends also introduces new features of its own, such as city districts, heroes, dominances, a more simplified economy (with only two resources) and neutral, siegeable units and buildings.[1] The reality-based resource wood has been replaced by Timonium. Unlike its predecessor, which offered the player 18 civilizations to choose from, Rise of Legends has only three races. These are the technological Vinci, the magical Alin, and the demigod-like Cuotl, who replace the Wealth resource with Energy, offering a new gather strategy. Each race is completely distinct from the others, allowing for different gameplay depending on the player's choice. The game has better graphics than its predecessor, resulting in a much more realistic gameplay experience.[2] It also makes use of the AGEIA PhysX physics engine.

Quake 4 is the fourth title in the series of Quake FPS computer games. It was developed by Raven Software and distributed by Activision. Raven Software has collaborated with id Software, the creators and usual developers of Quake games in the past. In this case, id Software supervised the development of the game as well as providing the Doom 3 engine, now referred to as 'id Tech 4', upon which it was built. Quake 4 went gold in early October 2005 and was released on October 18, 2005 for the PC, and later for the Xbox 360 and the Apple Macintosh. A special DVD Collectors Edition also exists, including promotional material and the game Quake II with its expansions. The Xbox 360 version of Quake 4 is based on the Special Collectors Edition, and therefore also includes Quake II.

Plotwise, the game is a sequel to Quake II and takes place during the same war as Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. However, Quake II, Quake 4, and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars do not share story lines with Quake or Quake III Arena; their only relation is their names and logos. Compared to other titles in the Quake series, Quake 4 has an increased emphasis on the single-player portion of the game, abeit at the cost of multiplayer.[1]

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is a first person shooter video game and the sequel to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas. It was announced by Ubisoft on November 20, 2007. The game was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 18, 2008 in North America and March 20, 2008 in Europe, except in Germany, where the game has been delayed.[4][5][6] The Microsoft Windows version, however, has been delayed until April 15, 2008.[3]

A world-exclusive first-look of the game appeared in the January edition of the Official Xbox Magazine. One of the biggest announcements is that Logan Keller, the lead character from the previous game, has been removed in favor of having the player create his own character to play through the campaign. The player instead assumes the role of "Bishop", a member of the Rainbow squad with a great deal more experience and who is more deeply involved in the story. The game, billed as "part sequel, part prequel", has events that run both before and concurrently to the story of Logan Keller and continue after where the first game concluded.[7][8]

The story for Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 takes place before, during and after the events of the first game. In addition to the ability to customize a character in multiplayer, the player can now customize Bishop, Vegas 2's new protagonist. In single-player, the developers claim to have vastly improved teammate AI, so that now teammates cover each other as they advance. There are also several new commands, for example, the ability of a teammate to throw a grenade at a specific point.

Tomb Raider Chronicles is the fifth game in the Tomb Raider series and the sequel to Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. It was developed by Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive. The game was originally released in 2000 for PC, Sega Dreamcast and PlayStation.

Tomb Raider Chronicles opens just days after the events of The Last Revelation. Lara is still missing and presumed dead. Utawarerumono (うたわれるもの, Utawarerumono?) is the title of a series about a fictional world in the style of feudal Japan. The series first began as a Japanese adult AVG+SLG(S-RPG) by Leaf which was released on April 26, 2002. A manga version was created in 2005 and was first serialized in Dengeki G's Magazine. An anime adaptation started airing on April 3, 2006. Since then, ADV Films has acquired the rights to the Utawarerumono anime. It became available in January 2007 on DVD.[1]

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events is a 2004 Academy Award-winning film, directed by Brad Silberling. It is based on the first three novels, The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, and The Wide Window, in Lemony Snicket's book series. It was nominated for four Academy Awards.

As in the books, exactly where and when the story takes place is unclear. The film reflects this ambiguity in its art direction; it was praised for its creative sets and costumes, all of which have a darkly expressionistic and gothic feel, leading to a highly unusual and creative visual motif.[1][2] Silberling has said this was partly inspired by the visual style of the similarly themed The Night of the Hunter.

The latest offering to come from Simon and Schuster Inc. is a massive first person RPG stuffed full of goodies and treats for even the most hardened gamer. Darkened Skyes follows the highs and lows of Skye of Lynora, a young heroine who has been sent to save a world cloaked in darkness. Lynora is the only person in this dark and miserable world who can save everyone from Dread with her magical powers, lethal battle stick and sidekick Draak (who doesn’t look too dissimilar to Monica Lewinski in the morning!). Upon first glimpse, Darkened skyes appears to be a dark and mystical fairy-tale version of Tomb Raider – how wrong I was!

Darkened Skyes had many surprises up its sleeves. Firstly, it features Linda Larkin’s voice as Skye, best known for her role as princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin movies and secondly, acts as an advertising vehicle for those colourful candy sweets Skittles (not on purpose though). Sounds confusing I know, but the purpose of the game is to collect the skittles so you can “release the rainbow” – possibly the best marketing tactic since Coca-Cola invented Santa; but don’t let that put you off!



Upon entering this fairy-tale world, the first thing you notice is the quality of the graphics, this game only requires an 8mb video card, 64mb of RAM, Pentium II and the usual Direct X – so naturally my expectations of this game weren’t particularly high. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find no pop up graphics, a highly detailed sky, landscape and foreground. To enhance this graphic induced euphoria, I was greeted by characters who look more human then in regular games where the lead character tends to be a mish mash of rectangular and octagonal polygons. The characters move in a simplistic, sleek, free and smooth fashion and interact with encountered objects with little difficulty. The designers in this game have clearly paid meticulous attention to every aspect of the landscape and character during the production of the game. In short, the graphics are superbly creative.

25 To Life is a third-person shooter video game for Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox released in 2006. The game was developed by Avalanche Software and Ritual Entertainment, and was published by Eidos Interactive.

Set in a modern environment, the game allows the player to play as both a police officer and a gangster, at different times, in a "cops and robbers" style game. The game can be played online with up to 16 players using the network adaptor for the PS2 and through Xbox Live for Microsoft's Xbox, and there is online play for the PC version as well. In addition, the game features a variety of hip hop songs played during the game.

The name of the game comes from a typical "indeterminate life sentence" that is often given in the United States upon a defendant's conviction for a violent felony. See the article on parole for more information.

Lost Empire is a 4X turn-based strategy computer game developed by Pollux Gamelabs released in June 2007.

The game is set in the year 4620. There are seven major civilizations in space, humankind is one of them. The story is that an attack led by an unknown evil alien race has almost destroyed the seven civilizations, and they are therefore now trying to expand furthest in order to ensure their continued survival. However, a powerful character with devious motives known as Enais is interfering with the seven civilizations and their expansion plans.

You play the leader of one of the seven civilizations and must bring this civilization to victory by dominating the galaxy. It is possible to achieve victory through military domination, diplomacy, research, culture, or by killing the character Enais.

The game was released July 14, 2007 and quickly went to the top of the charts on Paradox homepage. It featured 7 major races, 45 minor races, a huge tech tree, 3D-battles, a very large galaxy with 5000 solar systems, and a special dragon-like race called the Chi Lung-race, which the player can choose to play. And apparently the game will be mod-able with the possibility to tweak and change science descriptions, their effects, races, artwork, all text, and more. Lost Empire was nominated "Best Game of the Year" in 2006 at the D3Expo.

The second installment of the game surrounds a story that was explained briefly in the first game and the original movie. It tells the tale of a Union soldier during the American Civil War who is mortally wounded in battle and left for dead. As he slips into unconsciousness, he hears a mysterious voice say, "Your time is not up yet, soldier. I have need of you yet!". Surely enough, his time is not up - a young girl by the name of Robin Weaver finds him and helps him back to the isolated house where she resides with her grandmother, Bess.

While he heals, he has a number of hallucinations and a near-death experience, where he learns, but does not fully comprehend, that Robin is in danger. When he awakes, it emerges that he is suffering from amnesia, and cannot remember who he is. The only clue to his history is the uniform that he wears. With no name, Robin's grandmother, a devout Christian, temporarily names him Lazarus.

Robin's grandmother, with the soldier now in her debt, informs him that Robin has disappeared into the woods and begs him to find her. She is convinced that "the woods have her". The soldier perceives this as paranoia and believes that she has simply gone to play in the woods and is late back. Bess is insistent however, and the soldier agrees reluctantly to assist in the search for Robin.

As time progresses in the game, Lazarus recalls elements of his past which slowly explain how the events come to be.

Call of Duty 2 is a first-person shooter video game and sequel to the critically acclaimed game Call of Duty. It was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It was released on October 25, 2005 for PC and November 15, 2005 for the Xbox 360. Other versions were made for mobile phones as well as Pocket PCs and Smartphones.

The game is set during World War II and is experienced through the perspectives of three soldiers in the Red Army, British Army and United States Army.

Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone is a video game that was released in 2004 for various consoles, including PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It is set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), but the gameplay only vaguely models D&D's structure. The story was written by R.A. Salvatore and features the voices of Patrick Stewart as Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun and Michael Clarke Duncan as Ygorl.

The hero of many of Salvatore's novels, Drizzt Do'Urden, makes an appearance in the game; he is a playable character during a portion of one battle.

Demon Stone was nominated for awards by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

TimeShift is a sci-fi, first-person shooter from Vivendi Games for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was developed by Saber Interactive, the same developers behind the game Will Rock, using a new proprietary 3D engine and Havok.[2] A few pieces of Will Rock carry over to TimeShift, from the way gibs are shown, through some of the unique weapon designs, up to the beta suit's AI system (S.S.A.M., resembling Serious Sam, a favourite of Saber since Will Rock, which carried many similarities). On August 31, 2007 a demo of Timeshift was released on Xbox Live Marketplace. Following this, a PS3 demo was released onto the Playstation Store on November 1, 2007. The game was released on Xbox 360 and PC on October 30, 2007 in the United States; November 1, 2007 in Australia; and November 2, 2007 in Europe.
